How to organize your trip

Lately we get many questions about how do we organize our trip, where we reserve airplane tickets, transportation, where do we find accommodations and so on. For many, these things seem to be very complicated and time consuming, but they are all aware that they can save a pretty bunch of money if they do this on their own and do not go to a travel agency. Well, that is exactly why we decided to trust you how our organization looks like, whether we are going to the other end of the world or just a few miles away from home.

1. Destination selection

Have you noticed a great photo on Instagram? Would you like to experience a romantic scene on the beach that you saw in the movie? Or have you just came across a crazy cheap airplane tickets? All these can be reasons for visiting a specific city, province or country. There are 196 countries in the world, so the choice can be quite difficult. However, when you decide what you what to see, experience, try – then we think that the decision will come by itself.

2. How to get the cheapest route

So, we chose the destination, but what now? Usually, transport costs are a large part of travel expenses, especially when it comes to airline tickets, so it is important not to buy tickets in the rush. The prices of these change over the course of the year, so find out what is a favourable price for a particular destination. Skyscanner and Momondo will come very handy for searching the best offer.

Also, do not forget the cost of transport to the airport itself. At first glance, the cheap airline tickets from airport which is hundreds of kilometres away from our home seems great, but overall cost will sometimes be lower if our journey starts from nearby airports. Because we have to get to those distant airports and costs for transfer, parking and other things, can get high quickly.

3. What to do while traveling?

We mostly go on a trip with a certain reason, so we usually know in advance (at least us) what we want to see of experience in a certain place. With an internet, the thing is simple, you can help yourself with a Tripadvisor, where search engine will pick out the most desirable thing at the suggestions of other travellers, or you can find the tips on one of many travel blogs.

4. Route plan

So… we have set up a list of sights and adventures. What now? Since we are sometimes limited with a time on our trips and excursions, we cannot really see all we want. So, get on Google maps, start putting sights, and places on the maps and then logically distribute them over the days. Like that, you will see as much as possible and walk as few kilometres as possible in one day. And you will still have some extra time to enjoy your coffee 😉

5. Where to sleep

The choice of accommodation is crucial if we are limited in time. Running around the city and finding a roof over your head can sometimes be a huge loss of very valuable minutes that you would probably rather spend on beer at a nearby bar, hanging out or exploring. Because of this, we always looking for a hotels or hostels close to the city centre or close to the main attractions. We booked them through Booking.com or Hotels.com, recently we also get familiar with AirBnB. The choice is yours.

6. Public transportation

London, Paris, Rome sound tempting, right? Well, then do not worry about local transport, jump on the metro or just walk to the main attractions. Problem solved. In the case of using a subway, we warmly recommending that you should pre-search for a metro map on the internet, which will make it easier to move around the city.

If, of course, you are visiting several cities in a particular country, it is also very good to get familiar with other ways of public transport. Usually you can choose between taxis, buses or just and ordinary train. For a trip to countries with a less developed public transportation infrastructure, it is often the best choice to rent a car, but in some cases this option can greatly dry up your wallet.

7. Useful information about the country

And where are we now? Maybe would be nice to get some general information about the country that we intend to visit, right? Here, for example we talk about the money, necessary documents for entering the country, weather and possible inconveniences (diseases, stinging insects…).

Well, if we get back to the money… the first thing you must now, it is the currency, so you would know where could you exchange or withdraw your money. In addition, it is good to know if you can use bankcards (of course, here we have in mind the third world countries).

At last but not least, given the fact that we are currently in the 21st century, where we use a whole lot of various electronic devices (from camera to computer and more) it is also important that we know how many holes are in the sockets 🙂 If there is more or less than in your own country that you need extra adapter with you, otherwise your friends and family won’t believe that you rode elephants, getting around the town with a half-broken taxi or enjoyed cocktails underneath the palm trees on the white sandy beach.

8. Travel insurance

So… we are almost at the end with our organization tips, there is only one small extra thing missing, which is too often forgotten. Maybe it’s not a crucial thing, but if you get some health problems across the border (of course, we hope that you get them as little as possible), you will be sorry that you didn’t spend few extra euros for a health insurance, which would save you a lot of worries in the case of problems. We decided for annual Coris insurance. So, the choice is yours… if you are interested and need more information, you can always skip to the next article… (click)
